The illustrations feel like little windows into that Missouri prairie, you can almost hear the thunder rolling. My daughter pores over every page and then grabs her crayons to draw her own farm scenes. A beautiful, quiet book that sparks real creativity.

My kid asked for this every night for two weeks straight, and I don't even mind the repetition. The way the story weaves in those prairie thunderstorms and wildflower picking feels so personal, like we're getting a little slice of the author's own childhood. It's become our cozy bedtime ritual now.

The illustrations feel like they were drawn by someone who actually lived that farm life, and the story's gentle pace is perfect for bedtime reading. My son keeps asking me to read it again, and I catch him flipping through the pages on his own just to look at the pictures.
